Wellness is a topic in which we all have an interest, whether it is the wellness of the children we serve or our own personal wellness.

Child Nutrition Wellness
The wellness of the children we serve is important to all of us. Recent legislation over the past two years, both at the state and federal levels, has addressed this issue.

Washington State’s Substitute Senate Bill 5436, passed in 2004, required school districts to develop a school health policy that addressed, among other things, the nutritional value of food and beverages served and sold in schools. You can find more information by following these links:

Snack Food Calculator
The Seattle and Highline School Districts have developed a calculator that can be used to analyze snack products against the standards that a district has established in its wellness policy. Use the calculator on line or download it to customize it to fit your own district.
